I think that The Last Jedi is the most logical Star Wars movie in the entire franchise. The Force is the central element of the entire saga and it is only The Last Jedi that stays true to the quintessential nature of a force like the Force.
In any Universe with a primal element like the Force, the element has to predate life. Life is shaped by the Force, both the light and dark version. And the Force, in order to maintain a balance, has to be random. If it favors a certain a certain characteristic, say like a genealogy, then it no longer is random. A slight inclination towards the light or dark side would tip the balance decidedly towards one side. Even when accounting for free will and the Skywalker family flip-flopping over the light and dark side every generation, one family is too small a sample size to hang the fate of the Universe on to. So the light and dark sides of the force have to manifest randomly in order to maintain a balance.
With that in mind, the fact that Rey’s parents are nobodies is exactly how one should expect the force to work. Though The Force Awakens hints at Rey’s parents belonging to a famous genealogy (like the Skywalkers), The Last Jedi dispels any such illogical, ridiculous notions in favor of staying true to the nature of the Force. Rey is a random nobody that the Force has chosen to manifest in order to counteract the dark side.
If only the roaring ignoramuses in the Star Wars fan base realize this incontrovertible logic of the nature of the Force, can they see that Rey is the most rational choice to be the flag bearer of the light side of the force.
But then logical thinking is too much to expect of a rabid fan base who are most invested in the most obsequious pandering of fan service than staying true to the story. I hope that the last installment, of the what could be the best Star Wars trilogy, can stay faithful to the demands of the story instead of bowing down to cacophonous whining of a hysterically logic challenged fan base.
